Sea Change Australia Joins Global Conversation on Climate-Resilient Fisheries at FishSCORE 2030 Workshop
- News item

Last month, Dr Julia Santana Garcon represented the Sea Change Australia project at the FishSCORE 2030 workshop, held at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute in the United States. The workshop brought together an inspiring international mix of scientists, fishers, resource managers, and other stakeholders to explore solutions for building climate-resilient marine fisheries.
With more than 700 members in the global FishSCORE network, the event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with others working at the intersection of fisheries, sustainability, and climate adaptation. Julia’s presentation on Sea Change Australia’s work was warmly received and generated enthusiastic discussion, particularly around our efforts to develop a Global Toolkit for Resilient Fisheries in a Changing Climate.
This toolkit aims to support communities and decision-makers by identifying and categorising practical tools for climate adaptation in fisheries and aquaculture. As momentum builds, Julia will be co-leading a new international working group dedicated to analysing, summarising, and classifying these tools—bringing together global expertise to help safeguard marine ecosystems and livelihoods in the face of a changing climate.
We’re excited to continue contributing to this global effort and collaborating with FishSCORE partners to support resilient and sustainable ocean futures.
