Sea Change at the NESP Climate Adaptation 2025 Conference
- News item

Last week in Western Australia, Dr Gary Jackson and Dr Arani Chandrapavan attended the NESP Climate Adaptation 2025 Conference in Perth on behalf of Sea Change Australia and Department of Primary Industries & Regional Development fisheries branch.
The event brought together over 300 delegates and covered a broad range of topics in the climate adaptation space. The event highlighted the need for greater attention on marine-focused climate adaptation options, which received comparatively less attention during the conference.
Notable exceptions included Dr Chandrapavan’s insightful presentation on climate adaptation strategies for Western Australia’s wild fisheries sector, and the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (University of Tasmania) Sea Change Australia poster, which also highlighted important work in the marine domain.
With the Sea Change Australia project being vital to help foster two-way conversations and highlight practical climate adaptation options for our marine environments, particularly the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, it was fantastic to see marine issues getting a voice in the broader climate adaptation conversation!
