Sea Change Australia’s Project Manager and Research Fellow Dr Julia Santana-Garcon provided a compelling talk this week at the 2025 Australian Marine Sciences Association conference in Naarm, Melbourne, Victoria titled “Sea Change Australia: Empowering the fisheries and aquaculture sectors towards climate resilience” in Session 6.4 ‘Community partnerships driving reciprocal outcomes in marine science’. Julia provided an overview of the project and key activities, and invited participation and engagement around the Q&A platform ‘Fishing for Climate Answers‘.
Professor Gretta Pecl joined a powerful panel answering important questions on “Why Oceans Matter!”. Other Sea Change Australia team members Associate Professor Emily Ogier, who presented “Novel marine-climate interventions: addressing low consensus and governance preparedness“, and Dr Scott Spillias, who presented “Marine Ecosystem Modelling with Generative Artificial Intelligence“, were also present at this conference.
