A new report from the Biodiversity Council and marine experts outlines seven actions Australian federal and state governments should take to respond to SA’s catastrophic toxic algal bloom and the broader marine heatwave.

Australia is witnessing one of the worst marine disasters in living memory, enabled by an extended marine heatwave that rings the country. The loss of biodiversity, not just from the algal bloom but extensive coral bleaching on the east and west coasts, is likely to be equivalent in impact to the Black Summer bushfires.
