A new Australian and New Zealand Marine Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) Network has been established to strengthen collaboration and information sharing on harmful algal blooms across the region.
The network will promote and disseminate information on marine HABs, including training opportunities, conferences, workshops, and the latest research developments. It will also provide expert advice and connect stakeholders with relevant specialists when required.
The initiative marks a timely step in enhancing capability to understand and manage harmful algal blooms in Australian and New Zealand waters.
The committee’s founding members include Sea Change Australia’s experts Dr Alison Turnbull and Professor Gustaaf Hallegraeff.
