I am a Senior Scientist and Team Leader (Finfish and Genetics) in the Aquaculture Group, Cawthron Institute, New Zealand, and a Senior Adjunct Researcher at the University of Tasmania with over 30 years of experience in aquaculture research (finfish and shellfish). My focus is the application of research to enhance sustainable commercial aquaculture production, including salmon farming, selective breeding, genomic selection and climate change adaptation. I have led a wide range of projects on topics including salmon genomics, behaviour, health, physiology, nutrition, microbiomics, data science and selection of thermotolerant and feed efficient Chinook salmon. I currently lead the Climate Adapted Finfish MBIE Endeavour programme and am a member of the Aotearoa Circle’s Seafood Adaptation Strategy Implementation Group (SAS IG). The SAS IG has recently developed an aquaculture toolkit for the industry to use for climate change adaptation planning.
