Currently a fisheries scientist at IMAS, Barrett studies the ecology, movement behaviour and physiology of coastal and pelagic marine fishes, with particular research interests in how these species make a living in a dynamic ocean and understanding how they respond to environmental change. He is also the national coordinator for Redmap Australia (Range Extension Database & Mapping project; https://redmap.org.au), a citizen science project that tracks potential climate-driven range extensions of marine species around Australia.
