The Aboriginal Sea Company has become a major player in the Northern Territory’s seafood industry since it was started in 2022.

It has invested millions of dollars along the supply chain, buying commercial fishing licences, a retail outlet in Darwin, and also a marine equipment supply store.

The company was sailing ahead, but says the NT Government’s decision to phase-out gillnets from the commercial barramundi industry has created a range of problems.

The company has confirmed to ABC Rural that it is now considering legal action.
