The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has released Aqua-Adapt, a new framework to help the aquaculture sector respond to the growing risks posed by climate change.

Developed in response to calls for clearer, more practical guidance, Aqua-Adapt walks stakeholders through a six-step process covering risk and vulnerability assessment, adaptation planning, implementation, and ongoing monitoring.

The framework is grounded in IPCC definitions and was refined through case studies on salmon and mussel farming, making it relevant across a range of production systems and scales, from individual farms to broader governance units. Whether you work in policy, industry, or research, Aqua-Adapt offers a structured starting point for building long-term resilience in aquaculture.
